Colorectal Cancer Screening
Your risk of developing colon cancer may depend partly on having a doctor who frequently spots precancerous growths during colonoscopy screenings. You are in talented, skillful hands at AGSA. Our Lake County gastroenterologists are simply the best!
The effectiveness of screening colonoscopy in reducing colorectal cancer incidence and mortality depends on the quality of the examination. Recently, the adenoma detection rate (ADR) has emerged as a critical measure of a high-quality endoscopist. The ADR is the proportion of individuals undergoing a complete screening colonoscopy who have one or more adenomas detected.
The recommended benchmarks for a quality colonoscopy have been an ADR (the proportion of screening colonoscopies that detect at least one adenoma – or benign tumor) on screening colonoscopies of at least 15% among women and at least 25% among men.
